Ga Cental PM accuses Ga South, Ga West Assemblies of encroachment

Revenue collector
Presiding Member of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, Mr. Sheriff Abdul Fathah has accused two Municipal Assemblies namely Ga South and Ga West Municipals for encroaching into their territory to collect revenue.

According to Mr. Sheriff, they have on several occasions spotted revenue collectors from those to Assemblies actively discharging their duties within their territory.

“Their revenue collectors sometimes come to Sowutuom, which is our capital to collect revenue from traders and other business owners,” he asserted.

Ga Central Municipal Assembly was one of the 46 newly created Districts within the country 2012.

Mr. Sheriff who is also the Assemblyman for Nii Okaiman East Electoral Area the issue has been a source of worry for them adding that various calls they had placed to the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to have the problem resolved had proved futile.

“Our people look up to the assembly to do things like initiating more development projects, installing of streetlights, school projects  etc, yet we don’t have enough funds to cater for all those projects”.

Mr. Sheriff who made this known to Godwin Allotey Akweiteh in an interview called on government to come to their aid to have the problem rectified to halt any of such occurrences in the future.

Meanwhile, when Godwin Allotey Akweiteh contacted Mr. Patrick Nyonator, Municipal Budget Officer for the Ga South Municipal Assembly, he confirmed that such issue had occurred last year, it has been resolved long time ago.
